POSSIBLE N100007 FAKE

It has come to our attention that there is a possibility of multiple cars carrying this VIN number existing.  One of them is an obvious fake.  As most of our avid readers already know, Pilot Car Registry has protected the proprietary knowledge that distinguishes a Pilot Prototype from any other vehicle.  With over 100 differences existing, it would be impossible to fake one of these cars and get away with it.  It has come to our attention that a counterfeit #7 may exist.  This is the only known example of this happening so far.  And Pilot Car Registry will do everything within the law to protect the legitimacy of the cars contained within this site.  If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of this car, please feel free to contact us.

CONFIRMED COWL TAG FAKE

Pilot Car Registry has only one experience with a fake Cowl Tag.  Additionally, it did not exist on any of the original Prototypes.  Here are the facts:

During the research for this site, Pilot Car Registry personally documented an auction sale of a very early, double digit Los Angeles build.  With only three Pilot prototypes assembled in Los Angeles our factory records indicated that Los Angeles VINs L100001 through L100003 would carry body numbers from Fisher of 1-3.  These same records indicated that L100003 would have utilized the body number 1 knock down kit provided by Norwood.  So, you can imagine our surprise and confusion when an early assembly line car surfaced with body number 1 and it wasn’t L100003.

We archived this information until proof could be ascertained.  Ironically, L100003 surfaced in the summer of 2015 and Pilot Car Registry authenticated it in person.  I’m sure that you can finish this paragraph...L100003 DID IN FACT carry the body #1 designation on the Cowl Tag.  The previous car, while an authentic, early production assembly line car IS NOT a Pilot Prototype and obviously carries an inaccurate Cowl Tag.  To make matters even more obvious, L100003 is an original paint car that has not undergone restoration, is a fully documented one owner car, and the original Cowl Tag has never been removed.

All of the Vehicles produced by  the former General Motors Corporation at its long expunged Norwood, Ohio factory are all existing trademarks of the new General Motors Company.  Any and all historical marks as used here are used for identification, description, illustrative, and educational purposes only.  This site is not affiliated with General Motors Company.
